Report Phishing

PhishForward button

1. If you are on a computer (Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari), or mobile device the best way to report an email as phishing is by using the PhishForward button. Below are instructions on how to use the PhishForward Button. The PhishForward button is not available on iPads

Computer

The button is located on the side panel (it's hidden by default in Gmail). In the bottom right corner of the window you will see an arrow "< ", Click on that to show the side panel.

2. Once the side panel is visible click on PhishForward button shown below. Beauceron logo with a dog head coming out of the letter B

3. Once the PhishFoward button is clicked, a side window will show up to report the email.

There are two required questions:

1. Why are you reporting this email

2. Have you interacted with this email before reporting?

Once the two questions are answered there is a comment section for any comments that wish to be included with your report. (The comment section is not required but is encouraged.)

Click on Report Email at the bottom to report the email.

Mobile

1. Click on the email that you want to report as phishing.

2. Scroll down to the bottom of the email you will see "Available add-ons:" and see this logo below, Click on the logo.  Beauceron logo with a dog head coming out of the letter B

2. It will bring up this window from the bottom of the page.

4. Once you have reported the email you will get a confirmation that the email has been reported. 

 

 

 

Other Options

If you're using an iPad or the PhishForward button isn't avaible here are other options on how to report email as phishing. 

1. Report in Gmail

2. Forward the email email to phishing@pointloma.edu

 

Report Phishing in Gmail:

1. To report an email as phishing, open Gmail.com on a computer. When you’re in Gmail click on the email you want to report and on the right side click the three dots then you will see Report phishing.

 

 

2. Once you click on Report phishing this window will pop up and click on Report Phishing Message to report the email.
