How to Run a Temporary Admin Session with Admin By Request
This article explains how to use Admin By Request (ABR) on macOS and Windows for temporarily administrator access. Temporary admin access is limited to designated users and devices, and all actions are audited. Approved requests remain valid for two weeks; after that, you must submit a new request.
macOS
✅ Requesting Temporary Admin
1. Click on the ABR Icon (check mark) on the top menu bar and select Request administrator access

2. Click Yes to confirm the request.

3. A prompt will appear requesting:
- PLNU email address
- Phone number
- A brief reason for the request (minimum of 5 characters)

4. You'll see a confirmation pop-up on your computer that the request has been sent.

5. You'll receive a notification on your computer and email once the request has been approved or denied.
6. If approved, click on Start, Yes , then OK to acknowledge the code of conduct to begin the administrator session.



6. You will see the countdown timer in the bottom right corner.

Windows
✅ Requesting to Install an Application
1. Click on the ABR Icon (check mark) in the task tray and choose Request administrator access

2. A prompt will appear requesting:
- PLNU email address
- Phone number
