OneLogin Security Factors

Point Loma Nazarene University is committed to keeping your personal information safe. To do this, we employ the use of two-factor authentication to secure all University logins.  Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security used to ensure that people trying to gain access to an online account are who they say they are. First, a user will enter their username and a password. Then, instead of immediately gaining access, they will be required to provide another piece of information. This second factor could come from one of the following OneLogin Security Factors:

OneLogin Protect

OneLogin Protect is an app that you install on your smartphone that will send you push notifications. This notification will show as “Accept” or “Decline.” The user will select Accept to approve the verify the login is authentic.  Because of its convenience, OneLogin protect is the factor ITS recommends and is the most commonly used 2-Factor authentication method.

OneLogin SMS

OneLogin SMS is a security factor that will send you an SMS text message upon signing in. This text message will contain a random code that you will be asked to input to verify the login is authentic.

Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator is an app you install on your smartphone that will provide the user with a randomized code that you will be asked to input to verify the login is authentic.

OneLogin Voice

OneLogin Voice is a security factor that calls a phone number and asks you to enter the code being displayed

YUBiKey:

The YubiKey is a device that makes multi-factor authentication as simple as possible. Instead of a code being sent via SMS text or generated by an app on your phone, you press a button on your YubiKey upon logging in. Each device has a unique code built on it, which is used to verify the login is authentic.  These YubiKeys are optional and not provided by the University or ITS.
